Operator Please
I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this band. I got their EP On the Prowl which I think they recorded while in high school. It’s got a few songs I really like (the ones below) but the single is Just A Song About Ping Pong, which I’m really not a big fan of (I showed my friend hotpants this video and he said it was “clap your hands say AAAAAAAAH!”). Also apparently they’re signed to Virgin/EMI now. Boo.

ye. they're all heapz popular now. that track "just a song about ping pong" is even being used currently as the theme song to the new Virgin airlines commecial here. i remember 1st hearing them on myspace last year, when they were still unsigned, still yet to play gigs, with rough demos, and basically just school kids who jammed together for a competition. now, they're just everywhere. i reckon byt the time finally get an albumout, people would have already moved on. kinda like YOUNG & RESTLESS, another aussie band that got well-hyped up in the blogs, but really didnt made much of an impact with the nu album.
songs for grace! you are an idiot, trainspotter with no idea.
Hey now lets keep this civilized!
Yeah, but these kids can actually play. Unlike a lot of flash in the pan bands, they play a great live show-- they actually have the chops. I know because of their age it's easy to dismiss them as a gimmick but I think they're worthy of respect.
yea, just because theyre young, doesnt mean the cant play! ive seen them live many times and was blew away. BTW, its get what you want being used on the virgin ad dickhead
For teenagers they've done a lot more than most at that age. They've won an Aria Award, the equivalent of the Grammy's I suppose. Silverchair, another Aussie group who started out as teenagers have just finished a massive tour with Powderfinger and won a bucketful of Aria's this year aswell. Yeah, Operator Please are a bit young and rough around the edges but they play pretty original stuff and that's more than a huge amount of artists can say for themselves.
