Rise Against - Revolutions Per Minute (For fans of Strike Anywhere, Ignite, Anti-Flag)

The Killing Tree post I made a few days ago inspired me to bust out an old Rise Against favorite of mine "Revolutions Per Minute". After listening to it for the first time in years, all i have to say is: holy shit.

Revolutions Per Minute is THE album that got me through my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college some years back (6 actually... damn), and was by far my favorite album, period. I honestly have forgotten how good RPM is, and the album definitely will hold up the test of time.

Furious pissed off punk rock mixed with melodic hardcore, Revolutions Per Minute is no bullshit all the way through. If you've avoided Rise Against due to the lackluster releases as of late, or simply haven't heard this one in a while, I highly recommend you dust this classic off.

MP3:
Rise Against - Broken English
Rise Against - Voices Off Camera

Articles Per Minute:
The Killing Tree (Tim's Old Band)
The Steal - Bright Grey
Appeal To Reason Sucked
Rise Against - The Unraveling

Buy:
Fat Wreck

I got too see strike anywhere last year (at a christian youth center of all places).

I was supposed too interview them but they had too load up and leave right after the show. Even though there were only about 12 other people at the show they played like they were playing for 5000. O so much fun!

I'm glad someone else loves this record as much as I do. I would've been happy if they'd just remade this record; why did they change their sound when it worked so well already?
I don't dislike Appeal To Reason as much as you do but I was disappointed by it.
I also missed seeing them when they came near me in February...
Anyway, a great post about a great record on a great blog.
Thanks for posting.

urbn: That's pretty sweet, Strike Anywhere always kills it.

Will: I'm glad you like the record man. I was just severely dissapointed, as the band has so much potential, but they keep feeding us watered down crap on Appeal To Reason. The band made a step forward with "The Sufferers and the Witness" and so I had high hopes for Appeal.

RPM and the unraveling are rise against at there best, love it! there other cds are still pretty good, but not there best. saw them this summer and was really disappointed that they didn't play a single song of RPM. they act like their career began with siren songs :(

by the way i meant to say "their" not "there" in my last comment

Steve, I know what you're saying man. And I messed up my chances to see them:

1. Wanted to see them way back in the day, only had the Unraveling out, but I got sick.

2. Supposed to see them at Warped right after RPM came out, they were canceled because Taking Back Sunday decided to re-unite and play, and since Rise Against was pretty small, they were booted.

3. They were supposed to play a free show after RPM came out, canceled due to the fact that Taking Back Sunday played earlier, and the fire marshal said no more shows after Taking Back Sunday.

In conclusion: I fucking hate Taking Back Sunday.

haha... that is unfortunate I can guarantee those would've been some of their best shows. i was lucky enough to see them in cleveland shortly after siren songs came out so it was still a solid mix of all their cds.

any other band recommendations with a similiar sound to rise against? i'm not a huge fan of punk music, but am into rise against, strike anywhere, and afi.

Yeah man, sounds like you're mostly into the melodic/hardcore thing. Some bands you might want to check out:

-Smoke or Fire
-Ignite
-Inquisition (Singer of Strike Anywhere's old band)
-Kid Dynamite

Although not straight up Melodic Hardcore, you may also dig these guys:
-Propagandhi
-Bigwig

to name a few. I posted on all of them on this site, so just use the search bar and you'll find them. Let me know what you think.
