Westbound Train - Come and Get It (For fans of The Slackers, The Specials, Hepcat)

If I had to sum up Westbound Train's 2009 release "Come and Get It" in three words, those words would be "ska with soul". Luckily, I don't have only have a 3 word limit.
Having a wide array of instrumentation at their disposal, Westbound Train hits us doo-wop, R & B, Motown-influenced ska without ever turning their back on the upstrokes.
Westbound Train sounds a bit like if The Slackers grew up in 1960s Detroit. Obi's voice is incredibly versatile and passionate, with the best example being "The Runaround". Throughout the album the guitars constantly provide a rocksteady rhythm while the horns and organ drive the songs. Older fans may not like the fact that Westbound Train is diving headfirst into uncharted Soul territory, but the band makes sure to keep their checkered flag waving high.
